Our "Get Smart" Movie Adventure!

So we (my mom, my brother, Chad, Kaylynn and I) were eating at a downtown pizzaria today and on a whim decided to go see Get Smart at the theatre around the corner. Kaylynn was with us so we just decided to see how she would do. When she was 18 months old we took her to see Rattatouile and she didn't last too long so our hopes were not high. She made it through the WHOLE movie she didn't even squirm much. She even had a few funny comments during the movie: At one point in the movie Maxwell Smart goes through a doorway with strings of beads hanging down and the strings break and the beads go EVERYWHERE... Kaylynn says "OH NO! He's making a MESS!". There was another scene that involved a mouse climbing into Maxwell Smart's shirt, Kaylynn started laughing and yelled, "Look, it's a mousey!". This comment would not necessarily be deemed funny except that the theatre was extremely quiet so I am pretty sure everyone heard her brilliant take on the scene. In the middle of the movie she asked me to change the channel to Dora - haha like I can submit a full theatre to the wonderful "action scenes and comedy" of Dora the Explorer just for Kaylynn! At the end of the movie a song played while the credits rolled... Kaylynn said, "Oh, I love this song!!!" (it was a song I had never heard of so I know she hadn't) and then she started kicking her legs up and dancing. We were extremely excited that we were able to sit through the whole movie and that the movie had real people not cartoons!

The Fish's have COOTIES!

For Family Home Evening tonight we played a game called Cooties You roll the dice to see what part you can add to your cootie bug. We had a really good time together. Nana won, but really at the end Kaylynn was just putting pieces on her pink bug. We had a lot of fun together.
The pieces were kind of stiff so the cootie bugs were really hard to take apart. Kaylynn wast trying so hard to help but didn't quite have the strength.

Thankful for Naptime!

The other night during Kaylynn's night time prayers she said she was thankful for her nap. I thought that was super cute... then it dawned on me why she likes naptime sooooo much. She rarely actually sleeps during her nap. Instead she plays and like most toddlers one of her favorite past times is hoarding all sorts of items. You know the classic toddler sydrome where they are trying to hold too many things and bend to pick something else up, thereby dropping one or more of the items already being held. Then I thought of Kaylynn's bed and decided to take a look and see what all she keeps in bed with her.

Yes I counted... 31! That's the number of things she had tucked away in her bed with her. Everything from stuffed animal to books to a leaf off a plastic plant out in our hall!!! I took it all out and laid in all the floor and thought to myself: how on earth does she even have room to sleep in her bed!

Hello Miss Hollywood Fabulous!

This past week Chad and I were unpacking our living room so we were both a little preoccupied. Kaylynn was playing with her toys in the room with us and then she runs over to daddy and this is what she looked like. She had her Sleeping Beauty crown, sunglasses, Cinderella necklace and bracelet all on with her sparkly hot pink purse and she was talking on her Ariel cell phone! It was hilarious. Chad and I both had to stop our unpacking to have a good laugh with our sweet, adorable little Miss Hollywood!

Happy Father's Day!!!

Today was Father's Day. I am fortunate enough to have two amazing men in my life that represent all that a father should be. One of them is my own dad. He raised me to be strong in the gospel, to have love in my heart and to take responsibiltiy for my actions whether they be good or bad. Currently he is serving in the Army in Afghanistan. It is hard having him so far away, but I am so proud of him and the work he is doing there. I got to video conference with him last night and it was wonderful to see him and to chat with him.

The other amazing man came to me in different circumstances. I had to find him, that man is my wonderful husband Chad. I knew he loved me and would be a good husband and eventually a good father when I married him. But I had no idea what a truly amazing dad he was going to be. Since the birth of Kaylynn I have seen first hand how much he loves his children. Kaylynn is so blessed to have an extremely involved daddy! And Madison will have the same type of relationship with her daddy when she gets here in August! He is constantly showing us how much he loves us through his actions. Kaylynn lights up when she sees him. He gets down on the floor and plays with her, he tickles her, relaxes with her, takes care of her, and loves being with her. She loves spending time with her daddy. She plays ball with him, turns him into a princess with her wand (let me tell he loves that game! lol), she lets him paint her nails (she won't let mommy do it, but she loves to have daddy do it). Chad has had to get used to a lot of very girly things but Kaylynn has such a strong hold on his heart that he does just about anything for her!

So I would like to take this oppurtunity to thank my amazing husband for all he does. It is a great honor to be his wife and to have his children. I am grateful that we are an eternal family. This joy never has to end, what a huge blessing!

The Super Cool Big Girl Bed Club!!!

It's official! Kaylynn is a BIG girl with a BIG bed!!! Tonight is Kaylynn's first night in her big girl bed! And in her own words "I wub (love) my new BIG bed" , "Yay! Fowers!" , "I wub my wellow room, tanks mama and daddy!"

This is Kaylynn standing by her bed (and yes she is sunburnt!). That white thing on the side of her bed is called a bed rail. It's suppossed to ensure that she won't fall off the bed. To quote the instructions "PLEASE: Take a big breath-- and rest assured that these instructions are very easy to follow, and will help you assemble this rail VERY quickly, and without tools!" Well this sentence holds some truth, the rail was pretty easy to assemble... it was the installing it on the twin bed that took FOREVER! It took my mom and I about 5 minutes to put together and then about 30 minutes to install it correctly. Everytime we thought we fixed the problem and tried it out again I could pull the rail almost off the bed (and with very little effort I might add) And then we finally got it right and Chad brought Kaylynn in to give it a good test!
This is Kaylynn climbing under her covers for the first time. She wanted to do it all by herself like a big girl! She is so very in love with this new bed! I guess new is a relative term... it is new to Kaylynn but it is my old bed from when I was a kid. Although the mattress is new!
We had to do family prayer in her room becuase once we got the bed all set up and she tried it out she was NOT going to get out of her new bed!

Sleepy girl all tuckered out and ready for mommy to stop taking pictures and giver her kisses goodnight!

Painting Adventures!

Well we have become quite the painting pros lately. This is my mom's living room. It was about 9:00 at night when we started...needless to say I got pretty loopey and had to keep myself entertained while I worked. I painted the edges becuase I am not allowed to roll the paint on. Apparently that motion is just as bad as lifting and I am not allowed to lift anything right now.
Then when I was done with my part and was going to bed I had to paint something inspirational on the wall to keep my mom going!
Yes I do love my mom. But I have decided that I do NOT enjoy painting! But it is all done now and we are officially all moved in. Not unpacked yet...but everything we own is in this house as well as everything mom owns. And I only had 4 melt downs! (pregnancy + stress = TEARS!) he he he! When we get everything unpacked I will post pics of the new place!

The Big 24! for Becca!

This last Tuesday (the 3rd) was my birthday! It was a wonderfully tiring day! Chad barbequed so that I wouldn't have to cook and even made me a birthday cake!
Well you have to give him creativity points right?!? Kaylynn helped him build it!
This is me blowing out the candles on the most interesting birthday cake I have ever had!
Kaylynn thought daddy's version of a birthday cake was absolutely delicious and told us so multiple times while she enjoyed it's chocolatey cupcakey yumminess!
